SIXTEEN coaches, among them Premier Soccer League, Division One and junior development gaffers, completed an 18-day Caf B Licence course that ended at the YWCA Centre in Bulawayo on Thursday.

Among the participants were PSL sides Bulawayo City FC interim head coach Try Ncube and relegated Mutare City Rovers gaffer Taku Shariwa as well as Zifa Southern Region title runners up Bulawayo Chiefs coach Thulani Sibanda.

Amagagasi coach Zibonele Ncube as well as his opposite number at Zifa Southern Region club ZPC Hwange Njabulo Dube were also in attendance.

Premiership title winning Caps United goalkeepers coach Zwanayi Kawadza also travelled to Bulawayo to try his luck for a Caf B badge.

Not to be outdone were junior coaches Agent Sawu who is in charge of Bantu Rovers’ Under-16 team, Mutoko FC development coach Charles Mutero, former Warriors striker Gilbert Mushangazhike and Conrad Nyambabvu, among others.

The coaches were presented with the certificates of participation and only those successful will be issued with licences by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Addressing the coaches at a closing ceremony Zifa vice president Omega Sibanda urged the gaffers to spread their wings and not only aim for coaching big clubs in the country.

“Do not waste your time seeking employment at the big teams such as Dynamos, Highlanders and Caps United where there are limited opportunities. You should instead focus on smaller teams where there are abundant opportunities and make a name for yourself,” he said.

Sibanda said he had been informed that the graduating class was one of the best.

“I was informed by the technical director (Taurai Mangwiro) that this is one of the best Caf B classes and I would like to urge you to go out there and be good football ambassadors wherever you will be working. A good coach always shuns football vices such as match fixing and age cheating,” said Sibanda.

Mangwiro was assisted by Nelson Matongorere in instructing the course.

Gibson Homela, a former Zifa high performance committee member, coordinated the course.
