A total of 19 babies born at Mpilo Central hospital in Bulawayo on Saturday join thousands of children from across the country that share a birthday with President Mugabe.The babies comprised 10 girls and nine boys including a set of boy twins. One family is contemplating naming their child after President Mugabe.

Fiona Dube, 33, said the family had decided to choose between Robert and Gabriel.

“I’m happy that I gave birth to a baby boy and we’re contemplating naming him either Robert or Gabriel or both. I wish my son could follow in the President’s footsteps,” Dube said.

Zanu-PF Provincial Youth League Executive representing Celestial Healthcare, Khumbulani Mpofu gave 10 of the 19 children a set of baby boots, a hat and a tracksuit.

He said the donation was meant to celebrate the life of the President. “We celebrate the life of our icon by ploughing back to the community hence this donation,” said Mpofu,” Cde Mpofu said.

Celestial Healthcare operations director Charles Mavhunga said the donation was meant to celebrate with the newborn babies, President Mugabe’s birthday.
