PRESIDENT Robert Mugabe has promoted 37 Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) field officers to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel — the sixth highest rank in the ZNA.
They were all promoted with effect from February 26 this year.
Speaking on behalf of ZNA Commander Lt Gen Philip Valerio Sibanda, Brigadier General Administration Staff Shylet Moyo said promotions came as a result of hardwork exhibited during the discharge of duties.
“On behalf of Commander ZNA, let me assertively express that your promotion came as a result of hard work and tireless efforts you have exhibited during your discharge of duties in various capacities. It is prudent therefore to remind you that being promoted to the rank of Lt Col is a gesture of goodwill, trust and confidence,” she said.
“As military officers, we’re there to serve the State as custodians of our Constitution, which has been agreed by the people.”
Brig Gen Moyo said Lt Colonels should be exemplary as they would be required to represent the organisation in various forums where their presence or words said would be construed as official or the organisation’s position.
The new Lt Colonels are Fibion Chitungo, Isiah Chitungo, Camble Sithole, Joyce Derera, Kudzanai Mautsa, Sizani Moyo, Sadiki Maeresera, Snick Nkomo, Regis Mangezi, Lydia Mambondiyani, Lovemore Bvute, Conrade Makazhe, Tasra Jairos, Fungai Mapaya, William Mangwiro, Nomsa Denhere and Austin Chavani.
