PRePARATIONS for the 2016 Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) premier showcase are at an advanced stage with more than 75 percent of the exhibition space already booked. In a statement last week, ZITF said the countdown for the first and largest annual multi-sectoral trade showcase in the country has begun in earnest.
It said interest from international participants was encouraging as enquiries have been coming from as far as Europe and Asia.
“To date market response has been encouraging with the exhibition being over 75 percent booked. This is on par with the booking status at this time last year.
“Countries that have so far confirmed participation include Cyprus, Japan, Malawi, Mozambique, Pakistan, Russia, South Africa and Zambia,” said ZITF.
This year’s trade show will be the 57th edition. It will be held from April, 26 to 30 under the theme: Innovate, Integrate and Industrialise.
“The thrust of the exhibition will be to encourage the different economic players to shift from over reliance on natural resources to increased investment in manufacturing processes for the country to resuscitate and revitalise its industries as well as create sustainable value-chains,” said ZITF.
Last year about 419 direct exhibitors and 17 countries participated at the exhibition recording a four percent growth compared to 2014’s closing total of 396 direct exhibitors.
The exhibition ran under the theme Simulating Trade: Seizing Opportunities to Accelerate Growth.
ZITF said local and international businesspeople were invited to take advantage of the opportunities offered by Zimbabwe’s premier platform for business exchange by registering to participate.
In terms of local participation in 2015, Harare and Bulawayo registered the highest numbers of participants.
International representation had countries like Botswana, China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Germany, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Cyprus and Namibia, among others.
