AGRIBANK has donated groceries and blankets worth $8,800 to Thembiso Children’s Home and Entembeni Old People’s Home both in Bulawayo.Retail banking executive officer for Southern Region Divine Ngwenya handed over the consignment on Tuesday saying his institution resolved to chip in after realising challenges facing the less privileged.

Thembiso received groceries worth $8,000 while Entembeni got blankets worth $800.

“As a bank we want to make a difference in the communities we operate in. The donation is part of our social responsibilities initiatives.
“When we came here we were touched by the plight of inmates at these two institutions hence we decided to assist in our own small way,” said Ngwenya.

“We bought groceries worth $8,000 for Thembiso as per their list of items and blankets worth $800 for Entembeni,” he said.

Entembeni matron Catherine Chiponda expressed gratitude to the financial institution saying the donated blankets came at the right time.

“We deal with elderly people who are vulnerable to cold especially in winter like now,” she said.
