OUTGOING Zimbabwe Ladies Golf Union president, Nancy Dube has challenged female golfers in the country to aim for lower scores during the 2015 sporting calendar.The Royal Harare Golf Club player, who has been at the helm of ladies golf since 2013, said gone are the days when players would celebrate scoring and winning a tournament with a gross score of 78.

She challenged them to aim for a gross score of 72.

“Gone are the days when grossing 78 was considered a winning score, we therefore will be aiming for scores of 72 gross and below,” said Dube in a message delivered to members through the ladies’ monthly newsletter.

She encouraged the ladies to participate in every competition this year so that the sport can grow even higher.

She also announced that Zimbabwe will be playing host to the G and P golf tournament with golfers from across the African continent descending on Zimbabwe for the prestigious event. The venue for the tournament has not been confirmed yet but the process of choosing Zimbabwe’s representative is already in motion with national team coach Rhodah Muridzo expected to come up with a formidable side. Meanwhile, Harry Allen is playing host to the Matabeleland provincial championships which tees off today and ends tomorrow.
