While Samkelo Mdolomba, better known as Samthing Soweto has revealed that he regrets leaving The Soil, he is happy about their resounding success.

Samthing who has been making waves with his track, Akanamali revealed to Drum magazine that he left the acappella group in a huff years back over a contractual dispute before they rose to stardom.

The singer, the fourth member of the group, wanted the freedom to be a part of The Soil, as well as, another group.

“I was young, I didn’t know better. I wanted to do everything at the same time and I admit I was wrong. I regret leaving The Soil but I’m happy they’re doing well,” he said.

Samthing and the rest of the The Soil band mates formed the group when he was 17 years old, soon after finishing school and things fell apart six years later when they were offered a recording deal.

After leaving The Soil, Samthing started his solo music career and has been writing and singing alone ever since then. He has done a number of EPs and also collaborated with other artists.—Online
