“Your worship, Bright was previously staying with his mother at Emganwini and decided to move out and stay with me without my consent. He’s very disobedient and doesn’t listen to me when I reprimand him.

“I’ve tried several times to chase him out of the house but he doesn’t want. He threatens to kill me and burn my house if I evict him, the court is my only hope for freedom. I’m in need of dire help.

“I’ve sleepless nights, he arrives home from his friend’s place drunk late at night and becomes very violent. I don’t want him to reside with me anymore, I’ve had enough of him your worship,” said Ndlovu.

Magistrate Mashavakure ordered Bright to move out of his grandmother’s house with immediate effect. When the magistrate asked him about the allegations made by his grandmother, Bright said he had nothing to say.

Two weeks ago, a Makokoba youth was ordered by Bulawayo magistrate Sibongile  Msipa-Marondedze to move out of his mother’s house after he slapped her demanding money for beer. The youth blamed it on alcohol.

There has been an increase of cases of people committing crime and blaming it on alcohol. Some have been charged with murder for killings committd over petty differences.
