Preparations for the annual Great Limpopo Cultural Trade Fair to be held in Chiredzi this month, are at an advanced stage.

The show, which starts on July 28, will be at Mhlanguleni in Chiredzi rural.

The cultural gathering which in the past was the Great Limpopo Cultural Fair, has been rebranded so that it becomes a platform to also promote trade between cultural groups from South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe.

Now in its fourth year, the three-day fete being held under the theme: “Promoting women through culture, conservation and value addition” is expected to attract participants from more southern African countries compared to previous years.

Coordinator of the fair, Hebert Pikela said this year’s event would be unique as it will be the first to be held in a rural area.

“This year’s edition will be unique as it seeks to empower rural Shangani women through cultural initiatives. The fair is also meant to expose visitors to the Shangani people’s rural life,” Pikela said.

Women will sell their cultural wares during the fair which will be broadcast by ZBC.

The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority has also recognised the annual fete and now include it on their national calendar of events.
