All set for Miss South Africa

ALL is set for the Miss South Africa beauty contest taking place at Sun City Superbowl, Johannesburg, South Africa on Sunday. The 12 finalists: Busi Mahlangu (Mpumalanga); Chanelle Sardinha (Gauteng); Danelle de Wet (Western Cape); Gugulethu Banda (Gauteng); Kim Wentzel (Gauteng); Liesl Laurie (Gauteng); Nicole Lamberts (Western Cape); Ntsiki Mkhize (Gauteng); Refilwe Mthimunye (Gauteng); Shanè Naidoo (Gauteng); Sihle Makhanya (KZN) and Taryn Morris (Western Cape) will strut their stuff on the Superbowl ramp, vying for the coveted crown.

They will be judged by former Generations actress, Sophie Ndaba who was added to the judging panel earlier this week.

“The judging panel for the Miss South Africa pageant has been extended with the appointment of new judge, actress and TV personality Sophie Ndaba.

“She joins the panel of magazine editor, poet and writer, Kojo Baffoe; Anneline Kriel who became Miss World in 1974 and Bloemfontein designer Casper Bosman,” pageant organisers said in a statement.

The dazzling Miss South Africa beauty pageant will be broadcast live on M-Net and Mzansi Magic, DStv channels 101 and 161 from 5:30PM on Sunday.

Presented by Proverb, performers at the glittering show include AKA, Gangs of Ballet, Beatenberg and Sterling EQ with appearances by outgoing Miss South Africa and reigning Miss World — Rolene Strauss, former Miss Worlds Anneline Kriel and Penny Coelen-Rey, as well as a host of former Miss South Africas.

The lady who will be crowned Miss South Africa will go on to represent that country at the Miss World finale taking place at the Sandton Convention Centre in South Africa. So far, 25 international beauties have been crowned and are already preparing for the world contest.

Zimbabwe is expected to crown its Miss World representative on April 25 at a pageant being held at the Mermaids Pool in Shamva. Twelve countries including Zambia, Swaziland and Madagascar, which had previously withdrawn from the world contest, will be returning this year.
