AMAGAGASI beat Corinthians 2-0 in a Victoria Falls derby on Saturday to cut the gap between them and leaders Makomo to one point and raise their hopes of taking the Zifa Matabeleland North league race to the wire at the end of the season.
Player/coach Ndoga Nyoni played a crucial role as Amagagasi continued to dream big and continue seeing light at the end of the tunnel.
On the same day Makomo also continued to dig out the valued points after the miners went to feared Madumabisa Stadium and silenced Kamandama Celtic with a 2-0 win.

Lloyd Chimuchenga and Kudakwashe Sithole were on target for player/coach Tapela Ngwenya’s charges.
The miners have a game in hand against tricky and unpredictable army team Moto Moto but the determined Amagagasi will care less as they bank on the army side to spring an upset on Makomo when the two teams clash today in a potentially explosive tie at Old ground.

The match was postponed during the Heroes and Defence Forces holidays which had double header fixtures as the soldiers and wardens (Prison Eagles) were committed at the two day commemorations.

At Makwika Stadium, Brazil were stopped on their tracks when they were thrashed 3-0 by Hwange in the most shocking result of the weekend.

Milton Nyangu, Clyton Tshuma and Leon Ngwenya scored to leave Brazil fans wondering their team’s recent impressive run was for real.
At Sports Pavilion, visiting Victoria Falls side Classic Luyando continued with their classy acts in matches when they stunned Blackrock 3-2 at their favourite hunting ground.

Mordecai Moyo, Lucky Ndlovu and Yovett Nyoni scored for Luyando who have now hit top gear in the league race.
A goal by Frank Ncube and a penalty conversion by the evergreen Clifford Phiri could not pull the game out of the fire for the Tichavona Mfandaedza-coached lads.

Ingagula proved that their Chakona Stadium is a lion’s den when they silenced Zambezi Lions’ roaring with a 2-0 victory.
Peter Hamisi and Wayne hit the nets to ensure Lions made the trip back to Vic Falls empty handed.

On Sunday, Baobab Rovers quenched the raging fires as they prevailed 3-1 over Fire FC at Megawatt Stadium.
Andile Moyo (brace) and Isaac Maphosa scored while Fortune Matenda was on target for Fire FC’s consolation.

Meanwhile Lazarus “Cobra” Mtekesa (ZRP Hwange), Stewart Madziwa (Blackrock) and Agreement Ncube (Corinthians) were voted joint winners for the July Player of Month and shared the $100 prize money availed by the sponsors Premier Motor Spares from Victoria Falls.
