BULAWAYO Amateur Boxing Association (Baba), female boxer,Amanda Dube knocked out her Percy Boxing Club rival, Thandekile Sibanda at Manor Hotel on Saturday.
Dube dominated the fight claiming victory in the first round of the match.
She said that she was happy with her win over Sibanda, who has been known to beat most of her opponents.

“I expected a very tough challenge from Sibanda, especially with her track record of winning most of her matches,” said Dube.
The event had both men and women taking part in the nine-bout bill.
Organisers were expecting 15 fights, but a few boxers turned up.

Veteran trainer, Philip “Striker” Ndlovu of Tshaka Boxing Club, said the tournament was very competitive and advised boxers to train hard to prepare for the national tournament, set for the same venue next month.

“The tournament was very competitive and boxing fanatics enjoyed most of the fights that took place. I feel that some of the boxers should train more, especially for the upcoming Region Five Youth Games in December,” said Ndlovu.

“I’d like to apologise on behalf of the clubs from Gweru and Kwekwe who were expected to come, but failed. They communicated late, citing financial constraints,” he said
