Since the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority took over the prestigious beauty pageant from the cash-strapped Miss Zimbabwe Trust, it has become a tradition to allow the contestants to have a personal feel of the majestic Victoria Falls and other tourism sites in Zimbabwe.
Last week the girls paid a courtesy call on Masvingo and got up close and personal with the country’s cultural heritage at the Great Zimbabwe.
The winners of the contest are expected to be Zimbabwe’s tourism ambassadors and should therefore be familiar with the country’s prime tourist attraction, famed the world over for the smoke that thunders in the Rainforest and resultant mist, as well as frolicking wildlife.
This year’s pageant is going to be different in that ZTA has rung the changes to align with international standards and each of the top three models will get a courtesy car, making it highly prestigious.
The three major contested posts will be Miss Tourism Zimbabwe, Miss Universe Zimbabwe and Miss Zimbabwe.
