SIR Bob Geldof has come under fire over the last few weeks with the release of the Band Aid 30 single, but there’s one supermodel who has got his back. Naomi Campbell, who on Thursday night opened her Fashion For Relief pop-up store to also raise money for the fight against Ebola, has said the work that the Boomtown Rats frontman does is “amazing”.

Speaking exclusively to MailOnline, Naomi said: “Anything Bob Geldof does is amazing. He’s someone who has inspired us all to actually take the step and do things like this, like Fashion For Relief, and have the courage to do it.”

She added: “What he did in 1984; I was one of those ticket people at Wembley, when I was 14, and it’s always inspired me to do something to help. Just do it.”

Geldof certainly has the best intentions, however, he’s been criticised not just for the new lyrics which depict West Africa as a joyless place, but also for naming and shaming Adele for not taking part.

The female singer had already privately donated to Oxfam, which many have said seems to be the more logical option to raise money for the cause rather than lending their voices.

This year’s Do They Know It’s Christmas Time? featured multi-millionaires One Direction, Bono, Rita Ora, Ed Sheeran, Seal and Ellie Goulding.

But for Naomi’s campaign to raise money to aid the fight against this disease, which has already killed over 5,700 people in West Africa, she has got her famous friends and designers to donate clothing, shoes and accessories for the public to buy.

Kate Moss, Stella McCartney, McQueen, D&G and Givenchy have given some items and Campbell too has raided her wardrobe for the cause.

But with one of the most enviable collection of clothing in the world, it may have have been hard to part with some pieces, but not for Naomi.

‘I think I’m blessed in terms with working with great designers I’ve had those things for a while and I’ve worn them for a while so it’s nice to pass them onto someone else,’ the 44-year old told said on Thursday night at the launch of the pop-up at Westfield Shopping Centre.

All the proceeds will go to helping aid workers and scientists in their pursuit of a cure or vaccine, but as much as Naomi would like to see where the money is going, she won’t be flying into the worst effected areas just yet.

“I would like to go but right now I don’t know if we can go, so I want to wait until it’s safe,” the model campaigner said. — Dailymail.
