POLICE have launched a manhunt for an armed robbery suspect from Nkulumane in Bulawayo believed to be part of a gang that raided Rumrich Supermarket in the suburb in December.Mduduzi Gumbo, 31, whose last known address was 2708 Nkulumane, has been on the police wanted list since investigations proved him to be a suspect in the 7 December robbery.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Mandlenkosi Moyo yesterday advised members of the public not to try to apprehend Gumbo because he was considered armed and dangerous.

“We warn members of the public to exercise extreme caution when handling the character as we strongly believe he is armed and will not hesitate to shoot when cornered,” said Insp Moyo.

He said anyone who had information about his whereabouts should contact the officer in charge of Central Investigations Department (CID) Homicide, Bulawayo, Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Mpofu on 09-71568 or 0713 254 081.

Alternatively, he said, they could call the case investigating officer Detective Assistant Inspector Tirivamwe Matsika on 0772 742 886 or contact any nearest police station.

Said Insp Moyo: “On the aforementioned date, some suspects approached the complainant at Rumrich Supermarket and produced firearms before demanding cash.

“We have strong suspicion that Mduduzi could have been one of the suspects, hence our need to interview him.”
