LEADING confectionery company Baker’s Inn has assured the Zimbabwe National Army of its continued support in fundraising activities for the welfare of army personnel and their dependents.

The assurance was given by the company’s sales and marketing executive Caleb Musodza on the sidelines of the 2017 edition of the ZNA Charities golf challenge prize giving ceremony held at Harry Allen Golf Club on Saturday evening.

Musodza said Baker’s Inn took cognisant of the army’s efforts to ensure peace and an enabling business operating environment hence the company’s decision to assist those injured during operations.

“Baker’s Inn is proud of its partnership with the army and we are in for the long haul. It’s not a year-by-year arrangement and we want to make sure that the platform continues to bring more resources,” said Musodza.

“As Baker’s Inn, we are very grateful for the business environment that has been created by the efforts of these men and women in uniform. A lot of people take it for granted but without an enabling business environment, no business can operate properly and we thank the ZNA for that,” he said.

Baker’s Inn pledged $55 000 to the army charities.

Musodza said the company strongly believed its success is weighed heavily by the community it operates in and the army remained an important member of that community.

“We strongly believe we are what we are because of the community that we operate in. We view the army as a very important member of that community and in that regard we are very supportive of the army’s charity work. We believe by looking after the less privileged in society, we are paying back to society which gives us business. We are looking forward to further strengthening the relationship. The golf tournament has been running for the third year now and its growing bigger and better and next year I am sure it will even be much bigger than this,” said Musodza.

The golf tournament was graced by ZNA commander Lieutenant-General Philip Valerio Sibanda, Baker’s Inn chief executive officer Ngoni Mazango, who took to the greens as well as Big Time Strategic Group South Africa chief executive officer Justice Maphosa, who was the guest speaker at a dinner dance held at a Bulawayo hotel on Friday night.

Maphosa pledged $30 000 towards the army charities.
