Bantu dominate Southern Region Soccer Stars out Johannes Ngodzo

BANTU Rovers dominated the Zifa Southern Region Soccer Stars of the Year finalists with three players from the championship winning side making it into the list of the 11 most outstanding players of the 2016 season.

Rovers’ trio of Fortune Nkomazana, Joshua Wilson and Bukhosi Sibanda will be hoping to come out tops at the awards ceremony to be held tomorrow in Bulawayo.

Victoria Falls side Amagagasi had the duo of Arthur Musiiya and Wellington Muuya making it into the list which also has the league’s top goal scorer with 15 goals, Tashinga Mungadze of Black Boots and the duo of ZPC Hwange Leon Ngwenya and Israel Mukahanana.

Ngwenya and Mukahanana were influential in ZPC Hwange’s win of the inaugural John Landa Nkomo Liquor Hub Super 8 Tournament.

League debutantes Bosso90 and Talen Vision have Ray Lunga and Njabulo Mpofu respectively making it into the list.

The 2016 Footballer of the Year together with his two runners up as well as the Coach of the Year will be named at an awards ceremony to be held at the Liquor Hub Wholesale offices tomorrow.

The football award ceremony will start after the Liquor Hub 10km Fun Run and 5km Charity Walk between Fourth and Fifth Avenue along Fife Street.

Bulawayo businessman Raj Modi is bankrolling both events.

For winning the title in his first year in charge of champions Bantu Rovers Johannes Ngodzo is tipped to take home the Coach of the Year award.

The Footballer of the Year is a tussle between Nkomazana, Mungadze and Wilson of Tshintsha Guluva.

Club coaches and captains voted for the 2016 Soccer Star of the Year finalists and the coach of the year.
