Nqobizitha Masuku the Bantu skipper put the home team in front but a resilient Mpumalanga came from behind to score three goals before Abraham Mbaiwa and player/assistant coach Johannes Ngodzo scored goal each. Ngodzo’s equaliser from a free kick was scored three minutes from time.

Tshintsa Guluva’s secretary-general Wilbert Sibanda said they were grateful for the point earned against tough opposition.

“We played a tough team who were determined to revenge their 1-3 defeat in the first encounter but credit should go to the boys who fought very hard to claim a point.

“Mpumalanga is a good team and it took all we could to force a draw and I do not see any points lost but a point gained as every point is precious at this stage of the race,” he said.

The draw took Bantu to 52 points, three points away from How Mine who are playing today.

It was another tight affair between Zimbabwe Saints and New West City as the teams played 1-1 draw at Zimbabwe Saints Sports Club on Saturday.

Chikwata coach Edmore Sibanda gave credit to his team for a spirited performance in a tough match.

“We had said we need to win all our last games and that is still our aim but a point versus New West who are at the top of their game is always a good result,” Sibanda said.
