CASTLE Lager Premier Soccer League table anchors Bantu Rovers have stoked fires ahead of their clash with a depleted Highlanders at Barbourfields Stadium this afternoon by declaring that the ailing Bulawayo giants owe them.

It was not immediately clear exactly what Bosso owe Bantu Rovers, but Tshintsha Guluva posted a rather chilling warning on their official Facebook page on Tuesday.

Bosso troop into this afternoon’s encounter missing four regulars, vice-captain Rahman Kutsanzira, King Nadolo and steely defender Tendai Ndlovu through injury, while left-back Honest Moyo is serving a suspension for accumulating three yellow cards.

“Intense training session ahead of Thursday mid-week fixture against Highlanders FC. Bosso owes us,” posted Bantu Rovers in a statement that seemed to dare their more illustrious opponents, who are, however, now just a pale shadow of their former selves.

It is probably that freefall that seems to give the youthful Bantu Rovers belief that they can also get maximum points this afternoon.

They seem emboldened by fellow strugglers Tsholotsho’s feat of getting their first set of three points from a Bosso encounter.

In the reverse fixture in May, Bosso put up a drab performance, but still managed to post an unconvincing 2-1 win.

Highlanders had to come back from behind in that game, with Nadolo and Prince Dube, who is now based in South Africa, saving their blushes.

Defender Peter Mudhuwa gave Bantu Rovers the lead in the first 10 minutes with an own goal.

But Bosso could yet have the last laugh if they can complement their good interchange of play by converting opportunities they create.

It has been goals that have eluded their strike force, with the latest being the Chibuku Super Cup encounter against Harare City at Mandava Stadium in which they just could not find the back of the net.

At Maglas Stadium, Shabanie Mine take on Dynamos fully aware that any slip up will leave them firmly rooted in the relegation zone, while equally troubled Harare City take on Chapungu at Rufaro Stadium.

Although Harare City coach Philani “Beefy” Ncube seems to enjoy poking fun at Highlanders’ Erol Akbay, he needs to take a microscopic look at his team’s position on the table.
