COSMAS ZULU
BANTU Rovers enjoyed a player’s advantage for 50 minutes after Caps United had a player red carded for rough play. The home team failed to stamp their authority over opponents by not retaining possession for longer periods in the game. In so doing they would have committed Caps United in the process gaining from the numerical advantage in crucial areas to create scoring opportunities.
This could have won Bantu Rovers the match.

The other wrong tactical approach was switching Obidiah Tarumbwa, their most experienced striker, to midfield.
Caps United came up with some good build ups in the opening 35 minutes of play.

They had some good moves especially those involving Hardlife Zvirekwi.
He was a joy going forward and sending some good crosses into the box and from one of the moves, Zvirekwi nearly scored from what I have not seen in a long time a player toe-poking a shot towards goal.

This reminded me of the late Jimmy Finch, the former Dynamos striker, who went on to be the senior national team manager.
There were some good dribbling displays on the left side by Nicholas Alufandika. He was a delight to watch.

In the second half, Caps United, with 10 men, did not have a clue on what to do.
It was evident that the technical and tactical input during halftime did not yield anything.

How Mine v ZPC Kariba
Good Attitude
With the kind of approach and attitude exhibited by How Mine players, I am sure they will definitely avoid relegation.
The creative processes in trying to come up with some scoring opportunities on the edge of the 18-yard box was so impressive.
It was unfortunate that the home side went to half time leading 1-0 but could have been three goals up if not for missed chances.
Kuda Musharu made some telling runs in the second half, running like a possessed man and he duly scored the second.

Ladies and gentlemen that was composure at its best.
Then the third goal came from a neat exchange of passes that unlocked the ZPC defence where the player who scored simply tapped in.
A word of advise to How Mine is that the young goalkeeper Donovan Bernard has potential, but I think for the remaining games you need an experienced goalkeeper.
The boy conceded soft goals. How Mine are now playing for gold, they are diggers and have to fight for their survival in the remaining games.
Refresher coaching clinics

I think its time as the High Performance Technical Committee we suggested to the motherbody Zifa and PSL to source sponsorship and bring coaches from outside the country for refresher courses for locals.

These must be in the off-season. Some local coaches could be sent to overseas clubs for attachments like Zifa did to me in 1993 when they sent me to Coventry City in the United Kingdom.

Until next week.
