BBA housemates’ search hots up

in the 14 participating countries have already been set.
In Zimbabwe auditions will be held at Meikles Hotel in Harare on March 4 and 6.
The open auditions will enable people who have not yet submitted paper applications to get in line for selection to the continent’s most popular reality show.
Liz Dziva, public relations and publicity manager of MultiChoice Zimbabwe, said the deadline for paper entries was February 27 and response had been good, with large numbers of applications from people in the 14 countries from which the housemates are to be sourced.
These entrants will be interviewed as part of the selection process at planned and programmed interview sessions.
“M-Net has now confirmed that it will also run open auditions in the different countries, so that those people who had not submitted paper entries still have a chance to try out for the new season through an open process,” she said.
“The producers are delighted with the response to this year’s call for entries and, although we knew there would be strong, the scale of this interest has been phenomenal, with more than 5 000 entries already received, among the highest number of entries for any edition of Big Brother Africa.”
She said it has always been the case that some people bring applications late but come to audition venues pleading for a chance to try out.
“So this year, in addition to paper entries, we’ll also have open audition days. This way, if you submitted a paper entry, your entry has already been evaluated and successful candidates will be called and seen first at audition venues.
“But those people who could not submit entries will be given a chance to enter when our selection team visits the participating countries. They simply need to come to audition venues on the relevant days, which will be publicised in advance.”
M-Net still prefers interested people to each submit a written entry.
Said Dziva: “There’s still some time to do this. These paper entries get priority with our selection teams, who read through them in detail and are able to spend time working through the information. “
To submit a written entry for the show, interested people can visit www.mnetafrica.com/bigbrother and complete the entry form online, or they can download an entry form from the website, complete it and e-mail it back to [email protected]. The deadline for all written entries is February 27 and this will not be an extendable deadline.”
Entry is open to would-be housemates who are 21 years of age or older, are English speaking, have a valid passport and are citizens of any one of the 14 participating countries: Angola, Botswana, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
They should be tolerant of views and lifestyle choices other than their own and must have the social flexibility to live in close proximity with others.
Big Brother Africa 6 will start on Sunday May 1 and will have a dedicated DStv channel (Channel 198) to provide 24/7 live coverage for the 91 days of the series.
Over the years, Zimbabwe has been fairly represented by a number of enthusiastic young and ambitious individuals, who have proved to be no-pushovers to this reality programme that has captivated thousands of television viewers not only in Zimbabwe, but in the region.
Tapuwa Mhere, Bertha Zakeyo, Krystal Culverwell and Munyaradzi Chidzonga (twice) are some of the people that have been part of the big show.
