BIG Brother Africa (BBA) enthusiasts will no longer have to wait in anticipation to know the Big Brother Hotshots as they will be unveiled today, 17 days before Africa’s biggest reality show launches.Show organisers Endemol SA and M-Net yesterday announced that the participating housemates for Big Brother Hotshots would be unveiled live on the official Big Brother website www.bigbrotherafrica.com which launches today at 12:00GMT (2PM CAT).

M-Net Africa Regional Director (West Africa) Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu said three BBA housemates would be introduced on a daily basis starting today followed by regular updates on social media.

“During the 8th season of Big Brother, over 6 million fans interacted with the show via the Website, Twitter, and Facebook, with the website generating just over 200 million impressions. We are breaking new ground and the website and social media are the perfect platforms to engage with the fans in real-time”, said Mba-Uzoukwu.

This news comes as a relief to fans of the show who have been waiting with bated breath to find out who will be representing their respective countries.

This year’s edition was rumoured to feature popular faces. The housemates are already in South Africa waiting to be transported to their new home after the initial one was gutted down by a massive fire a few weeks ago – causing the show to delay by a month.

However, this year’s edition will likely run for two months compared to previous editions which ran for three months (91 days) meaning housemates will have to hit the ground running as there will not be much time to expose themselves to Africa.

BBA Hotshots will kick off on October 5 and end on December 7 (63 days). It is still unclear how many countries are taking part after the initial withdrawal of Sierra Leone and Liberia whose travel documents could not be processed on time.

Angola will not be taking part as they held their own Big Brother edition this year. It also remains to be seen how many housemates were selected from each country. Some BBA editions have had two representatives from each country while some had one.

Mba-Uzoukwu assured BBA fanatics that a new House had been secured in South Africa and it was being perfected to suit this year’s glamorous housemates’ requirements.

“The new and undoubtedly glamorous Big Brother house is in the process of being designed and fitted with cutting edge camera equipment and broadcast technology that makes the show unique in its format,” she said.

Mba-Uzoukwu also urged BBA fans to prepare for the show as they are in for exciting television.

“The show will go on, and both fans and housemates are in for some riveting television, coupled with all the drama, intrigue and heart-stopping twists that have long become synonymous with the reality show”.

Big Brother Hotshots will run 24/7 on DStv channels 197 and 198, with live eviction shows as well as the best of the live daily and weekly highlights shown on Africa Magic Family, Africa Magic Showcase, Africa Magic World and Maisha Magic.
