Big Brother Mzansi (BBM): Double Trouble winner —Ntombi Tshabala, 22, wants to use her newly found fame for a good cause.
The former Housemate, who fell pregnant at 18 years says she wants to fight teenage pregnancy and empower youths not to make the same mistakes as hers.“Teenage pregnancy is something I’ve been through and I want to prevent it,” Ntombi told Gareth Cliff during the CliffCentral show on DStv on Tuesday.

With a R1 million in her bank account, the housemate who has a son, Skhokho, with former BBM Housemate, Nkanyiso “Ace” Khumalo said having a child as a teenager could be challenging.

“What was worse for me was that I was still at school. And you still have to wear your uniform, and pregnancy is there. It’s not a good thing, I won’t lie,” Ntombi said.

“Where I come from I always see teenage pregnancy as a big issue and also HIV/Aids.”

As a result of her pregnancy, she had to repeat her Grade 10 twice. She did not lose focus as she was determined to finish her matric, which she did.

She said her parents were disappointed when they found out about her pregnancy. At that time, she was around five to six months pregnant. But fortunately for her, she had a supportive mother.

In an interview with the Citizen, Ntombi said their son was a blessing as he had strengthened her relationship with Ace.

“Having our son made us so much stronger as a couple. We became closer because everything we did was for him,” she said.

“We entered Big Brother for him because we want him to get a better education and to grow up happy. We were both raised by good parents who provided for us, we wanted to do the same for Skhokho.”

The couple hope to buy a home and move out of Ace’s parent’s house.

“Having my own house has always been a big dream of mine. I also promised Ntombi the wedding of her dreams,” she said.

Speaking on their formula for success on Big Brother Mzansi, Ntombi said their aim was to stay true to themselves and entertain viewers. She said that is why they were not offended when BBM fans called them “Team Low Class”, as they were seen to represent the average people on the street.

“When I came into this competition, I knew I didn’t want to change the person who I am in order to fit in. I’ll act the way I always act and speak the way I speak, even if it’s broken English.”

Like last year’s BBM winners, Mandla and Lexi, Ntombi and Ace are working on their reality show on their lives after BBM.

Details of the show are still under wraps, but the couple says their fans will be seeing a lot more of them.
