Zimbabwe has undertaken to send four womens’ and three men’s teams at the South African Open Invitational set for Port Elizabeth next week.
National team player/coach Robert Njerere said they were pleased with the preparations done so far.

“We are going to play at the SA Open Invitational in Port Elizabeth.
“Our crew is departing for South Africa on September 28 and we should be in Port Elizabeth by the 30th. “But before we play in the international event, there is going to be a warm-up tournament at Highfield courts this weekend. “I am sure all teams that are going to play in South Africa will come and use the chance as part of the final preparations,” said Njerere. Port Eliuzabeth while Simba Chidziva pairs with Abidan Katemanyoka and Nyasha Takawira joins Kuda Chizema for the other men’s team.
Persuade Gwaba and Rejoice Mafufu make up one of the women’s teams with Cathrine Mashonganyika and Felistas Chakabwayo playing together.

The other team has Nomatter Mbiza and Viola Muchaoona awhile Vuyiswa Hlomo and Christine Manyanya are also expected to partner in Port Elizabeth.
Njerere said the event in Port Elizabeth will be part of Zimbabwe’s preparations for the second round of the African Olympic qualifiers set for Morocco from October 9 to 14.

“We are hoping to play the South African teams which were at the All-Africa Games while players from Namibia and Germany have also shown an interest.
“This tournament in Port Elizabeth will be helping our efforts to play in the Olympic qualifiers in Morocco,” he said.
