BIDVEST Wits head coach Gavin Hunt has commended former Warriors leftback Onismore Bhasera for outstanding performances. Hunt believes his player, now among the veterans in the Absa Premiership, still has a number of seasons ahead of him in the game.

“Ever since Bhasera joined the team a few seasons ago, he’s never disappointed he always works harder and is a down to earth player.

“He does his talking on the pitch. His passion and discipline in the game make him a unique player, he’s such a player any coach will never want to sideline from the starting line up,” said Hunt.

He said ever since the former Plymouth Argyle defender joined his team, he has commanded a regular position.

He said players of Bhasera’s calibre were rare and he rates him as one of the best leftbacks in the South African Absa Premiership.

Bhasera and his teammates started their mid-season training three weeks ago.

Hunt believes all has gone well so far.

The coach had to do without two of his star players, defender Thulani Hlatshwayo and striker Sibusiso Vilakazi who were part of the disappointing Bafana Bafana in the African Cup of Nations Cup in Equatorial Guinea.

Bafana Bafana were eliminated with Senegal in their “group of death” which saw Africa’s best team, Algeria, and four-time Afcon winners Ghana sail through to the quarter-finals.
