A BINGA schoolboy stole the limelight at the Bakers Inn ‘Buy and Win’ provincial draw held in Hwange yesterday when he won a brand new Honda Fit.

Fillimon Mutshayani, 20, who recently finished his ‘O’ level studies at Binga High school with flying colours broke the record to become the competition’s youngest winner.

An overjoyed Fillimon, who could not hide his excitement said he was shocked when he was phoned to be told that he had won, even though he had been preparing for such an eventuality as he had prayed about it.

He said he had registered to pursue diesel plant fitting studies at Gweru Polytechnic College later this year and was not going to sell the car as he was in the process of getting a license.

“Yes, this has really shaken me at having won a brand new car considering that I’m young having just finished my O level and still trying to make sense of my life,” he said.

Fillimon was not at the draw which was broadcast live on Star FM at the time his name was announced.  He could not believe his luck when the show’s host Tilda Moyo Karizamimba phoned him.

Luckily for him and the organisers of the event, he was in Hwange town and not in Binga ensuring that everyone caught a glimpse of the winner.

Fillimon said every time he submitted his entry forms after his mother, Anastasia Mutshayani, sent him to buy bread, he would pray.

“Every time I dropped my entry forms where my mother was buying the bread I would pray that I win and I was confident that God would answer my prayers,” he said.

Bakers Inn chief executive officer, Ngoni Mazango said unlike most competitions done by other companies that were centralized to Harare, Bakers Inn was ensuring that all its customers got the opportunity to win by decentralising the draws to the provinces.
