FIFTEEN Bulawayo bodybuilders will face-off in the Mr 263 Fitness and Model competition to be held at Club 263 on February 4.

The event, the first to be held at the club since its opening in August 2016, will start at 7PM.

Veteran bodybuilder Simon Gama will be among the panel of judges alongside Body Works Gym manager Donavan Ashborne and two other judges that are yet to be announced.

Michael Keogh, who will host the event, said the aim of the event is to promote bodybuilding through modelling.

“Bodybuilding is a sport that isn’t followed much, so we are trying to promote it in the city in an entertaining way. We realised that most people associate bodybuilding with males only, as much as modelling is associated with females. Through this competition we are trying to involve that male aspect of modelling through bodybuilding,” said Keogh.

“By combining the two, we are saying every person is able to do what their counterparts can do. I can say that this is the first phase as we are going to host another event a week later featuring women,” he said.

He said bodybuilding and modelling fans should come in numbers to witness the event as there are other exciting events lined up during the night.

“There will be cash prizes to be won and some entertainment from our local DJs. We used discretion in selecting our contestants from various gyms, so we are expecting tight competition. This is another way by Club 263 to give back to our valued clients because we are all about giving choices. Right now entry charges are yet to be confirmed, but we want them to range between $3 and $5,” Keogh said.
