BULAWAYO-based Borrow Street Jets have pulled out of the Zimbabwe Women’s Soccer League (ZWSL) with immediate effect.

In their withdrawal letter dated July 24, 2017, the club said it was reverting to the Southern Region Women’s League.

The club alleges that the ZWSL does not adhere to Zifa rules and regulations in the running of the national league.

It alleges that some unnamed members of the league’s administration are directly participating in the day-to-day running of particular clubs.

“There is no official accreditation, there is no permanent fixture, the league is oversubscribed and the management of the league do not uphold their own resolutions,” reads excerpts of the letter written by Borrow Jets official Thembelani Dliwayo.

Zimbabwe Women’s Football chairperson Rosemary Kanonge confirmed receipt of Borrow Jets’ letter and dismissed all allegations it contains.

“We have received the letter and the allegations they have made do not hold water. As far as l know, Borrow Street Jets have a fixture against Black Rhinos this coming weekend,” said Kanonge.

She added efforts by the association to communicate with Borrow Jets had failed.

Borrow Jets have so far failed to fulfill three fixtures and it remains to be seen if they will turn up for the Black Rhinos game this weekend.

As part of measures to financially bail out clubs, Zifa promised to pay for the teams’ transport and referees’ match fees.

All teams were also presented with full playing kits. – @innocentskizoe
