HIGHLANDERS are not worried about developments at Hwange after Chipangano went into a secret camp on Wednesday ahead of their top-of-the-log match on Sunday. The match is set to witness one of the best crowds at Barbourfields Stadium this year as the two sides kicked off their season on a high note, winning two and drawing a match each.

Chipangano showed good character when they came from behind to beat FC Platinum 3-2 in their Castle Lager Premiership match at Mandava Stadium and are keen on maintaining their good away record, this time at the expense of their more illustrious opponents. Their road towards achieving that dream started on Wednesday when they went into an early camp, 50km away from Hwange town.

Stand-in Bosso coach Mark Mathe is however not perturbed by the developments and said their worry is their own preparations which he said are going on well with the boys showing a lot of enthusiasm and eagerness to hand the miners their first defeat of the season and underline their status as firm title favourites.

Mathe has been in charge of the Bulawayo giants in the absence of head coach Kelvin Kaindu who had gone home to Zambia to sort out personal issues. The in-and-out God-fearing mentor was expected in Bulawayo last night having missed three days of training.

Mystery surrounds his visa as work permits are usually given with visas.

“We are focusing on our own plans.  What Hwange are doing or did is certainly none of our business. It does not worry us,” said Mathe.

He added that their training sessions have been going on well with all the players raring to go and had at the end of yesterday’s training session at Barbourfields Stadium, a clean bill of health.
“It’s so far so good for us.  Everything is on course and I am happy with the attitude of the boys,” said the tall former Chicken Inn, McInn, Highlanders developmental side and Zimbabwe Saints coach.
Another city team, Chicken Inn, will take to the road headed for Triangle hoping to come back with maximum points following their lucky 2-2 home draw against FC Platinum on Easter Monday.
Coach Joe Antipas said they have put the FC Platinum game behind them and were now focused on their next match.
“We have been working hard on our midfield because I believe it’s where we lost it in our last game and for what we know, Triangle are very good in that department too,” said Antipas who recently brought in Prince Matore as his assistant.
Reports say the Gamecocks also want to bring in Marlon Jani as goalkeepers’ coach, taking over from long serving and trusted club servant Julius Ndlovu.
