Top Bulawayo bowling star Cedric Edwards caught in action at Bulawayo Athletic Club yesterday preparing for the national championships that begin in Bulawayo tomorrow

BOWLING clubs from Botswana and Namibia will grace the National Lawn Bowling Championship that start in Bulawayo tomorrow.
The tournament is set to run until April 26.
Event organiser, veteran Bob Torrie, said they expect three teams from Botswana and one from Namibia to take part in the event.
Gaborone, Selibe Pikwe and Francistown are the teams from Botswana while Tsumeb from Namibia are making the long trip to Bulawayo.

“We have teams coming from Botswana and Namibia so it will be a big event and everything is going on very well. Our team is ready, they have been training and we have also prepared our field,” said Torrie.

Over 80 men and 52 women are expected to grace the bowls extravaganza that will be played across four bowling venues in the city which are Bulawayo Athletic Club (BAC), Hillside, Old Miltonians and Bulawayo Bowling Club (BBC).

Five clubs from the city will take part in the competition. These are BAC, BCC, Old Miltonians, Hillside and Good Hope.
Avondale, Highlands, Alex and Borrowdale are the clubs expected from Harare while Gweru Sports Club, Kwekwe, Zisco and Chegutu will grace the event as well.
The teams will be competing in singles, pairs, trips and fours in both men and women’s categories.

BAC men’s team will be banking on the experience of national champion Cedric Edwards who will be leading their A team which has Mark Feildus, Dave Byron and Eve Barrow.

Torrie will be leading the BAC second team.
