THE Bulawayo Pool Association (BPA) has engaged Gwanda Pool Association (GPA) to strengthen already cordial relations with the top four teams from the two leagues clashing in a mini tournament on the last weekend of the month. The Bulawayo Pool League is on a break to open room for their transfer window and games are expected to resume on August 2.

“We have a good working relationship with our counterparts from Gwanda. We have engaged them in having a mini tournament that will feature top four teams from both leagues. Dates are going to be confirmed by both parties before Monday but we are going to play the tournament definitely this month,” BPA spokesperson Donald Wadawu.

He said Bulawayo is set to host the first leg of the tournament with Gwanda playing host to the second leg.

He added that although BPA is yet to come up with the format to choose their representatives, the top teams in their Division One A and B Leagues will automatically qualify to be the flagship of the association at the pending tournament.

With the programme still on, in the Division One B League, any of the current top four teams BAC Masters, Metropolis, Enkundleni and Funda Ukulinda can dominate the league and gain an automatic ticket to represent Bulawayo.

In Division One A League, current pacesetters Black Eagles and second placed The Lounge are the only two teams that have brighter chances of representing the City of Kings and Queens at the inter-regional contest.

Last month, BPA in conjunction with the Midlands Pool League hosted a similar tournament where the first leg was played at Bulawayo’s Kings Club 70.
