Brazilians thrash FS Stars Khama Billiat

Free State Stars 2 – 5 M Sundowns
MAMELODI Sundowns came back from a goal down to demolish Free State Stars 5-2 in the Absa Premiership at James Motlatsi Stadium yesterday.
First blood was drawn only two minutes into the clash as Danny Venter produced a terrific left-footed strike. Mrisho Ngasa created the chance with some good dribbling before setting it up for his team-mate.

In the 13th minute the visitors took a quick free-kick, catching Stars fast asleep to give Khama Billiat a chance. He was through on goal but his strike was poor and easily saved.

There were long quiet spells just before ‘Downs found their equaliser in the 42nd minute. Tebogo Langerman sent in a cross that Hlompho Kekana headed on target. Diakite blocked it but Wayne Arendse was in position to slot it.

Just before the hour mark the Brazilians took the lead for the first time. Asavela Mbekile made a powerful run in from the right which set it up for Keagan Dolly who placed his shot into the top corner.

Only four minutes later the visitors were two goals clear. Langerman produced a great cross from the left, picking out Castro who bundled the ball home.

Pitso Mosimane’s men were three goals ahead in the 76th minute. Modise attacked down the right channel before his cross bounced off Diakite and fell for Billiat to finish.

Sundowns added a fifth in the 88th minute thanks to Mogakolodi Ngele who powered down the middle of the park before thrashing the ball past Diakite with great composure.

Stars found a consolation goal in stoppage time when Venter made a good run down the left before crossing for Hendrik Somaeb to finish.- Soccer Laduma
