National Arts Council provincial programmes officer William Nyandoro said the Chibuku Road to Fame talent search was a platform for up-and-coming artistes to showcase their untapped talent before a guaranteed large audience.

The group which will come out tops will be awarded a cash prize of $1,000 while the second and third runners-up will pocket $500 and $300 respectively.

Tshova Tshova music artiste Clement Magwaza will be the guest performer at the competition.

Last year, the winners of the Chibuku Road to Fame were Bindura-based outfit  The Way Band who followed in the footsteps of Terry and the Bliss – 2012 winners who broke the stranglehold of sungura with fresh contemporary jazz inspired sounds.

The talent search was established in 2001 by the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe and sponsored by Delta Corporation to recognise music groups with a potential to reach higher levels.
