THE deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce, Chiratidzo Mabuwa, will officially open the $1 million Bulawayo Chicken Inn drive-through facility today, management said yesterday.

Simbisa Foods group financial director Salim Eceolaza said: “All is set for the opening tomorrow (today). Our guest of honour will be here by midday as planned, to open the outlet,” he said.

At least 50 job opportunities will be created by the new venture.

Since its listing on the ZSE, Simbisa has opened three other drive-through shops in Kenya, Mauritius and Harare and the Bulawayo outlet will be the fourth.

From a single Chicken Inn outlet opened in 1987, the company has grown to 200 outlets across Zimbabwe. The fast food chain also had a regional presence of 387 quick service restaurants in 11 countries as at December 31, 2015.

Simbisa Brands Limited’s capital investments amounted to $4 million as at June 30, 2015.
