BULAWAYO province made a dramatic leap on the National Association of Secondary Schools (Nash) track and field athletics medals table yesterday that saw them end the day on the same 13 gold medals with Harare who lead by virtue of superior eight silver medals to Bulawayo’s six heading into today’s final races.

The competition at White City Stadium was being held jointly with the primary schools that saw over 2 000 athletes from across the country compete in various races from Tuesday.

Manicaland are third with 10 gold medals  while Matabeleland South are fourth with nine gold medals and joint hosts Matabeleland North ended the day on four gold medals, up from Wednesday’s two to end the day eighth just above Mashonaland Central and Midlands who anchor the gold medals table on three.

In the primary schools section, Masvingo province are on course with their 14 gold, followed by Manicaland who have 12 gold and Harare on 10 gold medals.

Bulawayo and Matabeleland North are yet to get any gold medals with Matabeleland North anchoring the overall medals table having got two silver and a single bronze medal while Bulawayo have seven silver and five bronze medals.

Harare province lead the joint Nash and Naph medals table with 23 gold, 17 silver and 12 bronze medals followed by Manicaland who have 22 gold, 12 silver and 13 bronze while Masvingo are third with 20  gold, 17 silver and 19 bronze.

Anchoring the joint table is Matabeleland North with four gold, eight silver and six bronze.
