BULAWAYO province’s National Science, Sports and Arts Festival (Nassaf) team is confident of bagging several gold medals in the national competition being held in Harare.

Mqogo Primary School is Bulawayo’s leading team and the reigning national drum majorettes champions. The school also holds several other accolades in individual categories, with their leader holding four gold medals.

Nassaf Bulawayo province local organising committee (Loc) chairperson and Intutha Primary School head Bongani Sibanda said they were raring to go and are upbeat about bringing back an avalanche of gold medals.

“We are happy that we have been doing well.

“We have assembled the best provincial team, which we’re sure is going to dominate at the festival and collect a number of gold medals for Bulawayo.

“We are up to the task and we will give a fair share of competition to other provinces. Remember this is a national festival,” said Sibanda.

He said they had prepared well for the competition.

“Remember we hosted these competitions at school level in accordance with the new curriculum.

“We had inter-schools, then district competitions right up to provincial level where this team was selected.

“We have the cream of the province. They are physically and mentally fit to deliver,” he said.

Mgoqo Primary School trainer Grace Matsanura said her girls were ready to conquer Zimbabwe like what they did at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair competitions in April.

“We are the champions and I am confident that we are going to retain the trophy.

“We beat these teams we are going to compete with hands down and we are therefore the team to beat,” said  Miss Matsanura.
