Bulawayo to host Parliament ease of doing business seminar Jacob Mudenda

A DELEGATION of parliamentarians led by the Speaker, Jacob Mudenda will be in Bulawayo today for a two-day inter-portfolio seminar to discuss ease of doing business issues.

The government, through the office of the President and Cabinet, is spearheading the ease of doing business process that seeks to improve Zimbabwe’s investment climate and enhance economic growth.

Parliament spokesperson Retired Major Edward Mbewe confirmed the meeting yesterday.

“Parliament will hold the ease of doing business workshop for two days in Bulawayo starting at 8AM tomorrow (today) where the Speaker will deliver the keynote address. This will be followed by presentations from different participants,” he said.

The event to be held at a local hotel draws members from different portfolio committees that include that on Finance and Economic Development, Industry and Commerce, Youth, Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment, Thematic Committee on Youth, Indigenisation and Empowerment, and selected members of the Portfolio Committee on Foreign Affairs.

Zimbabwe is working on improving its investment image as part of measures to facilitate medium to long term investment promotion.

The process involves reviewing laws and policies that govern operations of businesses mainly the time it takes to set up a business in the country.

Given the competition for investment across the region, enhancing the ease of doing business is critical in positioning the country as a favourable investment destination.
