BULILIMA Rural District Council chief executive officer, Mr John Brown Ncube is being divorced by his wife of more than 20 years for allegedly abusing her and engaging in extra-marital relationships.

According to summons filed at the Bulawayo High Court, the couple has been locked in a long standing domestic dispute, which resulted in the parties separating in 2008.

In papers before the court, Mrs Mpilo Ncube (nee Nkala), through her lawyers, Ncube and Partners, cited her husband as the defendant. She said as a result of her husband’s two-timing, their marriage had irretrievably broken down and she was therefore seeking a decree of divorce.

The couple married in terms of Chapter 5:11 of the Marriages Act. They have one child, a daughter who is now 18 years old.

“The marriage between plaintiff and defendant has broken down to such an extent that it can no longer be revived, more particularly in that the defendant was involved in extra-marital affairs, a conduct which I did not condone,” said Mrs Ncube.

“The defendant has been abusive both emotionally and physically and we also failed to agree on issues related to the matrimony, especially spiritual issues.”

During the subsistence of the marriage, the couple acquired properties in Plumtree and Bulawayo which include houses, commercial stands, a farm, livestock and irrigation farming equipment.

Mrs Ncube wants their matrimonial property to be shared equally.

She wants an order directing Mr Ncube to pay the tuition fee of their daughter who is studying at a university in the United Kingdom.

“It would be just and equitable and in the best interest of the child who is still attending university for the defendant to be ordered to pay maintenance by covering tuition fees in the sum of 9 000 pounds per semester and other academic requirements calculated at 500 pounds per month until she completes her studies and becomes self -supporting,” said Mrs Ncube.

The former Matabeleland South provincial administrator, through his lawyers, Warara and Associates filed an appearance to defend the summons but failed to respond to the plaintiff’s claims within the stipulated period. — @mashnets
