A FORM one pupil at Luveve High school was reportedly forced to drink urine by two bullies after she refused to pay a R1 “toll fee” to use the girls’ toilet. The bullies, both girls in Form Two, reportedly habitually abuse other pupils. Bulawayo Police Spokesperson Inspector Mandlenkosi Moyo yesterday confirmed the incident which occurred last Thursday.

He said police were charging the two pupils aged 14 and 15 with issuing threats of violence.

School authorities got wind of the incident the following day when the traumatised pupil reportedly refused to go to school, saying she feared for her life.

Sources at the school said there was mayhem after the girl’s father confronted the headmistress, Getrude Ndlovu, threatening to beat her up. Ndlovu reportedly advised him to make a report to the police.

On the day, the Form One girl (name withheld) went to relieve herself but was blocked at the toilet door by the two girls who demanded R1 from her.

According to sources close to the incident, the two bullies grabbed their victim and made her kneel on the floor in the toilet. The older girls allegedly told the helpless pupil to choose between eating faeces and drinking urine from the toilet bowl.

“They told her it was punishment for failing to pay the tollgate fee. The Form One girl initially resisted but they beat her until she chose urine,” said a source.

The bullies allegedly forced her to drink urine from a toilet bowl that had not been flushed.

The pupil later told teachers that the same girls had, on the previous day, forcibly taken her bracelet and thrown it in a bin with used sanitary pads.

The girl’s aunt declined to talk to The Chronicle, saying the family was not ready to have the story published.

Meanwhile, officials at the school are up in arms with the head after she delivered punishment which they considered to be lenient on the “rogue” girls.

“The two girls were called to the headmistress’s office on Monday but we could not believe our eyes when we saw the girls at school on Tuesday as we thought they would be suspended. One of the girls who confessed that she was the one who forced the form One pupil to drink urine at Luveve Police Station was told to dig a hole as punishment while the other was allowed to continue with her lessons,” said an official from the school.

The officials said they had expected the bullies to be expelled. Provincial Education Director Dan Moyo said he was yet to receive a report about the incident.

Early this year, a Form Three Pupil at Milton High School lost four teeth after he was allegedly assaulted by a group of prefects at the school.

In 2013, a pupil from the same school lost a testicle after a bully grabbed his private parts and twisted them.

Last year police were called after a 12-member gang of bullies stabbed a pupil at Njube High School.
