In Mexico, two dozen people have been killed and 10 others wounded when a bus collided with a car, causing a fire that engulfed both vehicles.

The accident took place on Monday when the car slammed into the passenger bus on a highway in the state of Puebla near Mexico’s Gulf coast, authorities said in a statement.

At least 22 of the victims were killed on the bus, while the other two were the driver and the passenger of the car, who died after their vehicle was consumed by flames.

Authorities were on the scene, according to local media, trying to identify the dead passengers, mostly students, on the bus.

The State Civil Defence Office released a statement, saying that an investigation into the crash showed the car apparently struck the bus’ doors, preventing the occupants from getting out. — PressTV
