ZIMBABWE’s representative in the Big Brother Africa (BBA) Hotshots show, Butterphly, survived eviction from the House by a whisker on Sunday evening as her compatriots and Malawians weighed in to save her. Her relations with Malawian Housemate, Mr 265 proved useful as she managed to bag two country votes, one from Zimbabwe and another from Malawi. This saved her from eviction because had Malawi not voted for her, she may have left with Permithias (Namibia) and Frankie (Rwanda) who both got single country votes from their respective countries.

Sunday’s Eviction show was probably Butterphly’s worst night in the BBA House because she had no idea she was up for eviction, only for Head of House, Idris to drop the bombshell during the show. Upon hearing this news she could not hide her shock, such that one could hear her heartbeat from the microphone.

Idris announced he had put the Zimbabwean Housemate up for eviction as he wanted to get her out of her shell.

“She’s a very strong person who doesn’t believe in herself in that game so I nominated her because I wanted Africa to vote for her to see where she stands,” said Idris. BBA host, IK did not make things better for the Power FM presenter as he kept her in suspense, often keeping her standing before telling her she was safe from eviction.

Immediately after the Eviction show, Housemates went straight to this week’s nominations. Butterphly was nominated by three Housemates with Mr 265 getting the most. Ma’m Bea said she had nominated Butterphly because she does not interact much and was a person who does not believe in herself.

The nomination shocker was Mr 265’s nomination from Butterphly. According to her, she nominated him because he had said he would understand if Butterphly were to nominate him since BBA was just a game. But, unfortunately for Butterphly she may live to regret the day she nominated Mr 265 as his country spent the whole of last week pooling resources to save her, only for her to thank them by putting their Housemate up for eviction. In the event that she is put up for eviction, she may be guaranteed of securing votes from Zimbabwe only as she has lost the Malawian vote.

Fourteen Housemates from the initial 26 are now left in the chase for the $300,000 prize money with four weeks left. Zimbabwe’s other representative, JJ is generally performing well, forming an alliance with South Africa’s Nhlanhla. It remains to be seen if the eviction scare will give birth to a whole new Butterphly, especially after Idris’ open reason for nominating her.

Though she is one of the Housemates who can easily sail through to the show’s finale, Butterphly is one of those Housemates who may leave the show and be forgotten the day she steps out.

Like most Housemates have highlighted, Butterphly is not letting people into her life, she is closing Africa out, making it difficult for viewers of the show to see her talents.
