Up-and-coming dancehall artistes from Bulawayo are relishing the chance to share the stage with Tocky Vibes (real name Obey Makamure) when they curtain raise for him at a show in the city on February 13.Tocky is arguably the best Zim dancehall artiste at the moment.

Upper Class, Anti Virus dancer-turned-musician Ricco Andrews and Taliban Crew are some of the artistes who will share the stage with the Harare artiste at Horizon Night Club.

The show is dubbed Red Cup Valentines with Tocky Vibes.

A member of Taliban Crew,  Pearcemore “Chipman’’ Chitopo, said they looked forward to more opportunities arising and doors opening for them after sharing the stage with the Mai hit maker.

“For now we don’t have sponsors or promoters so we hope this will give us a chance to market ourselves. We would like to thank Joe the OG through Black Troupe Entertainment for giving us this opportunity. We’re relishing performing with Tocky Vibes and we’ll strive to impress,” he said.

Chitopo said they were committed to promoting Zim dancehall music in the city so that it is as popular as it is in Harare.

Taliban Crew is made up of four artistes who met at Amakhosi Cultural Centre during the Dreams to Fame contest in 2012. After realising that they all specialised in dancehall, they decided to come together.

Eyton Jochore of Upper Class said they were excited to be part of the curtain raising team as it would provide a platform for them to showcase their skills.

“We believe there’s going to be a large crowd as many people love dancehall and can’t wait to see Tocky perform live in Bulawayo,” he said.

Ricco Andrews, popular for his dance moves in the Anti Virus crew, will also share the stage with the young artiste.

“People know me as a dancer and I’ll take this opportunity to introduce my other side which is singing,” he said.

Tocky Vibes’ manager Elvis Bokosha said people in Bulawayo should look forward to the best show of the year.

“I’m already getting calls and texts from many fans in Bulawayo who are excited about us coming and can’t wait to see Tocky performing,” he said.

Bokosha said fans should expect more shows by Tocky Vibes in the City of Kings this year.
