IT will be another dry weekend for Bulawayo football fans after the Premier Soccer League postponed a league match between Bulawayo City and troubled champions Caps United that was set for Barbourfields Stadium tomorrow.

In a statement yesterday, the PSL said it shall announce the new dates later, without giving reasons for the postponement, although it is largely believed that Zimbabwe’s crucial African Nations Championship (Chan) second-leg qualifier against Namibia at the National Sports Stadium is the reason for the postponement.

Makepekepe have three players in the squad, Ronald Chitiyo, Devon Chafa and Abbas Amidu, and hence can rightfully request a postponement of their match.

Caps are six games behind the rest of the teams in the league due to their Caf Champions League campaign in which they participated and the catch-up games might weigh heavily against them. They have been struggling ever since their exit from the continental jamboree.

They were humbled 1-3 by How Mine on Wednesday night to leave them rooted in the dreaded relegation bracket alongside Tsholotsho, Bantu Rovers and Hwange, a massive 18 behind the leading pack.

Flaring rumours of their key players crossing the floor to join cash flush Yadah FC as a result of salary arrears, are also disturbing to their supporters.

Big goalkeeper Edmore Sibanda, who missed Wednesday’s loss, Phineas Bamusi and Joel Ngodzo are said to be unsettled at the Green Machine, although chief executive officer Cuthbert Chitima rubbished their exit rumours. — @skhumoyo2000
