More than 20 artistes have registered to be part of the second Bulawayo Jam Session — an event introduced in the city to promote up-and-coming artistes.

Those selected will perform at the Cecil Hotel conference hall on Wednesday. The first jam session was held last month at the same venue and attracted a sizeable crowd.

Event organiser, Nkululeko Nkala said they could only accommodate a few artistes in order to make the session interesting.

Khuliyo and Donna C will host the event that will feature 20-minute performances by Brenda, Gabs Fire, Centre Party, Natasha K, J Garnert, Brintz, Cee Jay and Kwabatsha Batshi.

Nkala said he was impressed by the overwhelming response from artistes and the corporate world.

“It’s very interesting to note that many artistes want to participate but unfortunately we can only take a limited number,” said Nkala.

He said the corporate world was very supportive and on Wednesday those attending will win prizes.

Nkala said he was optimistic that the second jam session would receive a huge reception.

“The first Jam Session was not well-publicised, but still managed to draw a good crowd. This time around, we’ve advertised the event in good time and hope that more people and even artistes themselves are going to attend,” he said.

Nkala said they were considering including comedy on their programme as most comedians from the city had shown interest.
