THE national flag carrier Air Zimbabwe and the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe’s fight over passenger service fees is set to be a thing of the past with the two entities agreeing on the setting up of a joint nostro account.

The development will see departure charges now incorporated on a single ticket.

Passengers who have been forced to endure the inconvenience of paying for air ticket charge and passenger service fee separately can now breathe a sigh of relief as the charges will now be incorporated on a single ticket, according to the provisions of the deal, which CAAZ and Air Zimbabwe have agreed on.

A framework has already been adopted with the two companies targeting the 1st of September for the implementation of the deal.

CAAZ director airports, Mr Tawanda Gusha, said the two entities have been having intensive engagements to finalise the issue with a joint nostro account now set to be established.

The two state-owned entities who are both in the aviation business, have had their relationship strained over the collection of departure fees leading to CAAZ taking over the departure tax after airlines failed to remit the collections as required.

All Air Zimbabwe passengers flying to local and regional destinations have been paying the passenger service fee directly to CAAZ.

The fee is pegged at $15 for local departures and $50 for international departures. — ZBCtv.
