CAPS United arrived in Bulawayo yesterday afternoon and immediately declared their focus was on today’s game against How Mine and not the Harare derby against Dynamos on Easter Monday.Makepekepe will invade Luveve stadium hoping to inflict the first defeat on the gold miners who have collected four points out of a possible six. Caps United have a 100 percent record.

Makepekepe, who lost a number of seasoned players, are making a second trip to Bulawayo after a successful tour of duty in February during which they booted Bulawayo giants Highlanders out of the Bob91 Super Cup.

“We’re focused on the match which will obviously be a difficult one but for us it doesn’t really matter where we play be it here in Bulawayo or in Gweru, what’s important is that we prepare well for the game which I think we did,” said coach Mark Harrison who has notched two straight victories in his opening two matches of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.

He said they were not looking beyond the How Mine fixture.

“At the moment, How Mine is the game in the picture not Dynamos,” Harrison said.

He has a clean bill of health, setting the stage for Rodrick Mutuma, Ronald Pfumbidzayi and veteran Leonard Tsipa to once again show what they are made of.

Tsipa and Mutuma know what it feels like to clinch the league title and will be key to their side’s victory today.

They, however, come up against a battle hardened side whose players have probably seen it all on the domestic scene.

Led by last season’s joint winners of the Golden Boot Award, Charles Sibanda and Kudakwashe Musharu, Luke Masomere’s side will start as clear favourites to collect maximum points.

The constant shuffling of the How Mine central defence is however, worrying with questions being asked as to why they let George Magariro leave.

A good turnout is expected at Luveve Stadium with How Mine set to be urged on by their drum beating supporters.

A win for either side will propel them to the top of the table, at least for 24 hours while Caps United can still go on top with a draw this afternoon.
