NORMAN Mapeza, the FC Platinum coach is hoping to bring a positive result on Sunday when his side meets Caps United at the National Sports Stadium. He has, however, warned that there are no easy games in the Castle Lager Premiership.

“It’s the beginning of the season and we need to start picking up points though it will be just like any other league game.

Caps United won against Whawha but it’s still early in the season,” he said.

Mapeza said what makes the Sunday encounter tricky was that Caps United had a new set up since they have new players and a new coach.

He said Caps United had an advantage in that they would be playing at home and as such fans would rally behind them .

“People were expecting us to win against Dongo Sawmills but it was not easy. We travelled all the way from Tanzania and my guys did not have enough rest and this affected our play.

“Some people don’t understand it, they want us to win all the games but that’s not football because you win some, draw some and lose some. I’m happy that my boys showed character and we managed to get a point. I’m really proud of my boys,” said Mapeza.

Many fans expected the platinum miners to run riot over Dongo Sawmills but that was not the case.

FC Platinum trailed the newcomers but the individual brilliance of Donald Ngoma and a penalty from Walter Musona saw the green and white shirted outfit earn a draw.

Tomorrow’s match looks easier for Mapeza.

Caps United despite winning against Whawha last Sunday, was not impressive and had it not been for missed chances by Lloyd Mutasa’s men, they could have won by many goals.

Roderick Mutuma, the scorer of Caps United’s two goals could find the going very tough when he faces teammate at Dynamos, Gift Bello.

The Green Machine defence could find it difficult to contain the hard running Zambian Under-20 international Obrey Chirwa and with the likes of Musona, Brian Muzondiwa, Emmanuel Mandiranga and Tatenda Dzumbunu in the line up, Makepekepe could be in trouble.

Platinum also boasts of the strongest midfield in Mutasa, Allan Gahadzikwa, Tatenda Dzumbunu, Simon Shoko, veteran Thabani Kamusoko and Winston Mhango who is back following a serious injury which kept him on the sidelines for nearly two seasons.

Tomorrow Mapeza wants to be the first Zimbabwean coach to hand the Englishman Mark Harrison his first defeat in a Premiership match.

Harrison was unveiled in January and seems to have won the hearts of Makepekepe fans despite the fact that he is not promising them the league title.

“I have no pressure to win the league this year. I’m building a new team after losing 11 players at the beginning of the season. I’m, however, going to challenge for the title but I am not saying we will win it,” said Harrison.
