AIRMEN Chapungu have vowed to maintain their dominance over fellow Midlanders, FC Platinum at Ascot Stadium when the two sides clash in a Castle Lager Premiership encounter today.

It’s a make or break encounter for FC Platinum who need to collect their first set of maximum points at Ascot Stadium which have eluded them since the two sides’ rivalry in Division One in 2010 when both sides were still affiliates of the Zifa Central Region.

The platinum miners need to win today’s match at all costs to keep their title hopes alive.

FC Platinum are third on 52 points, two adrift of log leaders Caps United and with three rounds of fixtures to go, a loss will virtually blow the Zvishavane-based outfit’s championship charge up in smoke.

Chapungu coach John Nyikadzino has said his charges are going all out for a win to enhance their chances of finishing amongst the top eight.

“It is going to be a tough match because FC Platinum have been playing well and we have not been doing not so well.

‘‘Therefore, we need to pick ourselves up so that we finish the season on a high note in line with our objectives,” he said.

Added Nyikadzino: “In fact we are looking forward to winning all our remaining three games so that we safeguard our good home record not only against FC Platinum but Caps United as well.”

Caps United have also not won at Ascot Stadium since the return of “Waru Waru” to the topflight league and the airmen might become the kingmakers of this year’s league title.

The airmen will look for inspiration from the likes of Xolani Ncube who has been on top of his game as well as Allen Tavarwisa who has been the club’s top goalscorer so far.
