GWERU-based Premiership outfit Chapungu have recalled players they had loaned out as the club starts preparations for the 2016 season.

Among the recalled players are Brighton Mugoni, Johnson Mabhugu and Roy Nousenga, who turned out for Chegutu-based Zifa Northern Region Division One side Blue Jets, a sister club to Chapungu.

Also back are the Chokuwamba twins Tapiwa and Tawanda, as well as goalkeeper Polite Sibanda, who was at relegated Whawha.

Chapungu coach John Nyikadzino said the move was aimed at adding depth to the team.

“We do not intend to go into the market to sign new players, but we are just recalling players we had loaned to sister clubs so we can bolster our team. Some of them are experienced players whose form took a nosedive and we loaned them so that they could get game time and regain their confidence,” said Nyikadzino.

“We are looking forward to a better season this year, as you know we lost out on a top eight finish on the last day of the season. We will surprise many pundits this time around,” he said.

Chapungu ended the 2015 season in ninth place.
