AIRMEN Chapungu return to their favourite hunting ground Ascot Stadium where they entertain Chicken Inn in a Premiership match today.
Chapungu are still unbeaten at Ascot so far this season and in their last match at the venue they brought to a halt ZPC Kariba’s 19-match unbeaten run in the league after beating “Gwenya Rechamhembe” 3-0.
Despite the good run in form at home, the airmen have the worst away record after collecting a measly five points where they have lost seven times in the process.
John Nyikadzino, the Chapungu coach, believes the short break the team undertook to pave way for the One Wallet Challenge was a blessing in disguise for the airmen since it gave time to some of the injured players to recuperate.

He said with a full strength squad he has no excuses for not collecting maximum points against Chicken Inn.
“We are prepared for the game and everyone in camp is raring to go.

“The short break which we had gave some of the players who were on the injury list time to fully recover. Therefore there is nothing which can stop us from beating Chicken Inn tomorrow,” he said.

Brighton Mugoni, who scored a brace in the 3-0 win against ZPC Kariba, is a safe bet to start if Nyikadzino does not tinker with the team by employing his rotation system.

The “Waru Waru” mentor has been giving a run to all his six strikers who include Calisto Maheya, Kelvin Mthwaza, Philip Marufu, Maxwell Mavuto and Rodwell Mhlanga.

Chicken Inn coach, Joey “Mafero” Antipas, whose side was bundled out of the One Wallet Challenge by Triangle 3-5 in the lottery, described the prospects of meeting Chapungu at Ascot as a tough task.

He said: “It is a tough task playing Chapungu at Ascot where they have never lost but we are hoping to give them a good run and come out with a result.”
“Mafero” said his team had a clean bill of health.
